Come let us sing for joy to the Lord' - Psalm 95

Music is an important part of worship at St Mary's and we are fortunate to have a variety of musical groups - bell ringers, a choir, choristers and a praise band.St Mary's, with its excellent acoustics, is a popular venue for concerts and recitals, recordings, lectures and exhibitions. It is a major venue for the Lammermuir Festival held in September. Our organist is John Anderson and our Director of Choirs is Cole Bendall. Contact them on

St Mary's at 4

St Mary’s at 4 is our new Sunday afternoon concert series, which began in summer 2017. Admission to the concerts for the general public is free of charge, with the opportunity to make a donation for our church lighting upgrade project. During 2017 we have been building a loyal audience who have enjoyed many fabulous musical treats from choirs, instrumentalists, ensembles and soloists. We look forward to more of the same in 2018.

The series invites individual musicians and groups to contact us if they would be interested in giving a 45-60 minute concert at 4pm on a Sunday during the spring to autumn seasons, which is generally from Easter-October. There are no fees paid to the performers, but they are given the opportunity to perform in our lovely church free of charge.

At St Mary’s, we have a long track record of music-making through our own church choir, junior choristers, organists and band, local choirs such as the Garleton and Hadley Court Singers, and are always delighted to host visiting artists in events as diverse as the Lammermuir Festival and the Lothian Schools concerts.

With its warm acoustic and spectacular architecture, St Mary’s is a great place to relax and enjoy great music on a Sunday afternoon. We look forward to welcoming you as a performer or member of the audience!

Please contact Alan Faulkner if you’re interested in performing in the series and for further information: Email or telephone: 01620 893631
