St Mary's Church Choir

There was a choral tradition at St Mary's from its establishment as a Collegiate Church and St Mary's Choir continues that tradition at our 11am service. With around 20 singers, the choir performs music in a variety of styles from the Church's rich heritage - everything from the plainsong which would have been the first music heard in the building in the 14th century to modern composers such as Kenneth Leighton and John Rutter and everything in between. With passion!

St Mary's Choir is an active and friendly group and new members can be assured of a warm welcome. To get in touch click here.

St. Mary’s Parish Church, Haddington – a thriving Church of Scotland congregation in East Lothian and major performance venue in the Lammermuir Festival – welcomes applications from potential choral scholars from all parts from February to June 2018. With around 20 singers, the choir performs music in a variety of styles from the Church's rich heritage including Leighton, Stanford, MacMillan, and a rich selection of early music.

Choral scholars are offered £100 a month for participating in a weekly Thursday rehearsal (usually 7.30pm-9.30pm) and Sunday morning services (total time commitment usually 10.20am-12noon) as well as occasional extra services for Holy Week, concerts and other special events.

In addition to the fee specified, the music team offers vocal support and training, varied repertoire with opportunities for solos, and opportunities for additional public performances in services and elsewhere.

Auditions for the Choral Scholarships will take place by appointment during early 2018.
