St Mary's Local Mission Group is a working group of the Kirk Session.

Our Aim is to live out and share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our Mission statement is –
St Mary's Parish Church where we all, young and old, have a part to play in seeking to be a mission focused church.  As disciples of Jesus Christ we all have a responsibility to share His teaching and His message of God's unconditional love, within our parish and beyond by living out our faith.

So - All are welcome to get involved.

About our church and mission

Bullet gif There is always a warm welcome to anyone joining us for worship or at any of our other activities.
Bullet gif We are committed to supporting children and young people's ministry.  Jesus said "Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these."
Bullet gif We support and promote St Mary's groups which are involved in programmes and activities aimed at developing our Christian faith and understanding through Bible Study and Prayer.  The Wednesday Evening Soup Group is currently using the programme Christianity Explored.  This is a great resource for anyone wishing to explore for the first time or re- explore the questions:
Who was Jesus?  Why did he come? What is involved in following him?
Would you consider joining the group on a Wednesday evening?
Welcome assured.
Bullet gif We are committed to communicating the life and work of our church and the life and work of Jesus Christ.  Have you seen our information pack?
Bullet gif We are in the process of creating a Resource Library of Christian books and materials that people have found helpful on their journey of faith – resources that are both challenging and comforting.  Do you have any to share?

Our Favourite Bible Verses

We hope that you may find these verses from the Bible helpful. We are sharing them so that more people may find that God's word to us, whether comforting or challenging is still as relevant today as it always has been.
If you have a favourite Bible text please share it with us and tell us why it is special to you. You can email it to: localmission@stmaryskirk.com or give it to your elder or anyone from the local mission group.  There is also a Bible texts post box at the west end of the church or you can hand it into the church office at the Trinity Centre.

This summer’s favourite Bible verse is from John & Sarah Macgill:

Our verses are from Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3 (verses 17-18). It simply sums up how big God’s love is, how we are all part of something big by accepting his love, that this has been the foundation for generations before and will be for generations to come:

‘And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvellous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high and how deep his love really is.’
