Roof Repairs St Mary’s Parish Church has been successful in being awarded grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic Scotland to help them undertake extensive roof and high level stonework repairs to the west end of this beautiful Church. Although the repairs continue until July 2013, the Church will remain open as usual as the interior is unaffected. Parking is suspended within the Church grounds until the repair work is completed.
Fish & Chip Babies
New-born babies in Africa, many suffering from AIDS are being called "fish and chip babies" because they are being sent home from hospital wrapped in newspaper. Their mothers are too poor to provide clothes. The Guild wanted to help these tiny babies by knitting jumpers and hats, which will give protection from hot sun and cold nights. From the patterns provided, members and friends of St Mary's have just completed 420 jumpers and 470 hats. The photograph shows a few of these. This is a tremendous effort and is much appreciated.
